MY FAVOURITE SINGLE EYESHADOWS

- BEAUTY  |  JANUARY 6, 2020 -

Everybody has their favourite type of makeup, may that be foundation, bronzer or lipstick, you name it - for me, it’s eyeshadow, and I have to admit, I think I’m a tad obsessed! Over the past couple of years, I’ve learnt what colours work together and suit my complexion and eye colour through trial and error, which has resulted in me collating a collection of my favourite eyeshadows which live in a magnetic Z palette in my bathroom. I’ve ultimately created my own custom eyeshadow palette, which is probably the dream of any makeup lover, and mine has definitely become an extension of my right arm (or, as I sarcastically described it: a part of my personality which lives outside of my body). Like I said, I’m a slightly obsessed. My custom palette has allowed me to have the exact tones that I’m after and will compliment a look perfectly. If you’re wanting to invest in your makeup collection and buy a few shades which will compliment your favourite tone to wear, I believe this post will help you. I’m going to be talking through 11 eyeshadows, which range from classic neutrals to bright oranges and purples, and both matte and metallic formulas, which are incredibly flattering and easy to use. So, without further ado, let’s get started…

HENNA

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS

METALLIC ROSY RED COPPER BROWN

Henna is a statement shade which will finish off a simple warm tone look with an impact. It has a coppery, earthy base, but it also has a rosiness to it which means you can pair this with mauve and pink shadows that have warm undertones, such as Frappe by Makeup Geek, to make the shade more versatile. The formula is pigmented yet fine, meaning it has a smooth application with minimal fallout onto the cheeks.

PINK CHAMPAGNE

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS

METALLIC LIGHT PINK WITH AN INTENSE SILVER SPARKLE AND TAUPE UNDERTONE

The formula of Pink Champagne is like none of the other single eyeshadows that I have in my collection. It has a taupe undertone, meaning that it isn’t too light on the eyes, yet has an intense silver-champagne sparkly shimmer which is amazingly brightening and fun. It’s brilliant for nights out (however, let’s face it, I wear this all the time during the day!).

- TWO -

MACAROON

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS

METALLIC LILAC WITH A WARM PURPLE UNDERTONE

Purple is my favourite colour, but I’ve really struggled to find a purple with suits my green-blue eyes, and then I found Macaroon! This shade has a warm purple base to it (meaning it has more red tones in it than blue) which allows it to be really flattering on my eye colour and compliment my favourite matte shades beautifully. This shade will also works amazingly on brown eyes, so if you haven’t tried this colour already, I’d recommend that you should!

WARM TAUPE

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS

MATTE WARM TAUPE

There’s not a lot more that I can say about Warm Taupe colour-wise than the fact that it's…drumroll please…a warm taupe! It’s super pigmented and blends really well. Considering that the grey undertones are so strong it doesn’t make me look tired and because the shadow has just the right amount of warmth in it, it sustains a flattering feel. I regularly wear the shade just by itself, or as a transition shade to bronzy looks (since I can get away with using a grey-toned shade in warmer looks since my complexion is so fair).

- FOUR -

GRANDSTAND

MAKEUP GEEK

FOILED ROSE-GOLD BRONZE WITH A SILVER SHINE

Granstand is a cult favourite in the beauty world. It’s unique, and it adapts drastically depending on what eyeshadows you’re pairing it with. It works beautifully with warmer eyeshadows to create pinky-peach looks or with mauve-pink tone shadows to give a stunning cool-tone bronze while retaining that flattering feel due to the warmth that's embedded within. It’s amazing and works on all eye colours.

- FIVE -

FRAPPE

MAKEUP GEEK

DEMI-MATTE MEDIUM PINK BROWN WITH WARM UNDERTONES

Frappe is my favourite eyeshadow to use as a transition shade for mauve and pink looks, as even though it does have strong pink-red undertones in it, it’s also on the warm spectrum meaning that it allows you to retain a flattering feel to your eyes which is more pretty and brightening than using all cool-tone shadows. Frappe is also amazing to wear on no-makeup makeup days as it’s such a natural nude colour.

SUNSET

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS

FOILED RICH GOLDEN BRONZE

Sunset is the softest, most pigmented, shiny and intense eyeshadow I’ve ever come across. It's stunning! It's essential that you're careful with this eyeshadow as it has a very soft formula meaning that, if you drop it, it will more than likely shatter, and if you have light coloured eyeshadows nearby they'll be compromised. I’ve put Sunset around other dark shadows to prevent this issue! For of application, I’d advise to get the TINIEST amount on your finger and slowly building it up on the lid otherwise it will go everywhere.

JUICY

KYLIE COSMETICS

METALLIC VIVID ORANGE WITH A RED UNDERTONE

Juicy is my favourite pop of colour ever. When I wear vibrant colours I want them to stand out and be the star of the show, and this does the job perfectly. Even though it’s incredibly pigmented it has a fine formula which reduces the amount of fallout and tendency to drop onto your cheeks. I love to add Juicy to my inner corners with a warm bronzy, golden or coppery look.

LIT

KYLIE COSMETICS

METALLIC MEDIUM GOLD WITH A BRONZE UNDERTONE

I adore this shade and it has become my go-to metallic gold to put all over my lid for an everyday look. It works brilliantly with a variety of orange-based browns, such as Saddle (MAC) and Caramel (Anastasia Beverly Hills), as well as warm red-based and chestnut browns, such as Hematite (Kylie Cosmetics), and with mustard tones as well, such as Desert Sands (Makeup Geek).

- NINE -

SADDLE

MAC

MATTE GOLDEN ORANGE BROWN WITH A NEUTRAL UNDERTONE

I LOVE Saddle. It’s an amazing shade to buff all over the lid and in the crease. Compared to other orange-browns, such as Burnt Orange and Caramel by Anastasia Beverly Hills, Saddle has a more neutral undertone, allowing it to compliment bronzy looks. It goes brilliantly with golds and warm peaches.
